Olivia Nuzzi Banned From Trump’s Hush Money Trial Twice, Didn’t Inform Readers

Before New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi was suspended for allegedly having sex with RFK Jr., she was thrown out of Donald Trump’s hush money criminal trial for taking pictures against court rules, The Post has learned.

After her eviction on April 22, Nuzzi reported on the trial without informing readers that she was barred from the 15th floor of the Manhattan criminal court where it took place, her subsequent coverage shows.

Court officials removed Nuzzi after guards caught him taking a photo — for the second time — in an adjacent room where reporters and some members of the public watched the trial on a monitor.

In the first incident, she took a photo of her brightly colored bag on the dingy floor, a source familiar with the incident said.

Officials warned Nuzzi that photography in the room was strictly prohibited, but she ignored them.

“She was treated with respect at first but continued to take pictures despite being instructed and told not to,” a fellow journalist who covered the trial told The Post.

But another reporter familiar with the second incident said Nuzzi removed her phone after the trial ended for the day because she liked his shirt, which had an amusing image of a dog on it, and guards “jumped” on it. for the violation. .

“She was not photographing court proceedings. Excited at this moment, she snapped a photo of my shirt. She did not intentionally break the rules.” said the journalist, who asked to remain anonymous.

“Reporter Olivia Nuzzi was suspended for the remainder of the Trump proceedings for violating rules prohibiting taking photographs in the overflow audience room at our Lower Manhattan criminal court,” spokesman Al Baker confirmed Friday.

She will also be barred from attending Trump’s sentencing, set for Nov. 26, officials said.

During the trial, reporters and other attendees needed a court-issued permit to go to the 15th floor, which was heavily secured by the Secret Service and NYPD.

Photojournalists were only allowed to shoot in front of Trump’s defense table, not behind it where court personnel could be seen.

New York Magazine did not return emails from The Post seeking comment on Nuzzi’s dismissal from the trial and asking if the magazine ever informed readers about it.

The magazine suspended Nuzzi after she admitted that “the nature of some communications between me and a former reporting subject turned personal,” a reference to RFK Jr. She denied a physical relationship.
